Smarkets trading software
Trading software for Smarkets, on Windows
A desktop trading screen for Smarkets: ladders that show the whole order book, one-click betting, and closing a position in a single press instead of a calculation under time pressure. Connect your own Smarkets account and trade from a purpose-built screen.
Why traders use Smarkets
A flat commission structure you can reason about
Smarkets charges commission on the same basis whoever you are, with none of the tiering or extra charges that make working out your real cost on some exchanges an exercise in itself. When you can price your own cost before you take a position, you can tell whether a trade is worth taking.
Strong in football and politics
Smarkets built its following in football and in political markets, and both are well suited to trading: they run long enough for a position to develop, and prices move on news rather than on a single result at the end.
A modern platform underneath
Smarkets is a newer operation than most of its rivals, and it shows in the plumbing — a well-documented API and prices that arrive quickly. That matters more for a desktop trading screen than it does for a casual bet.
Where Smarkets is weaker
Smarkets is lighter in horse racing than the exchanges built on it, particularly outside the bigger meetings. If your trading is entirely pre-race racing, you will find less money in the market here than you might be used to — which is an argument for connecting Betdaq alongside it rather than an argument against Smarkets.
What the application gives you
Ladder view
The whole order book on one vertical scale, with money at each price and your own orders in place among it. Click a price to bet at it.
One-click trading out
Close a position at the current price in a single press, with the stake worked out for you rather than in your head while the market moves.
Positions and profit or loss
What you stand to win or lose on every outcome, updating as prices move, so you always know where you are before you take the next position.
Automation rules
Set the price that closes a position or caps a loss and let the application watch it. Rules can place the bet or simply tell you.
Smarkets and Betdaq both connect on the Pro plan, on the same screen. You get the football and politics markets where Smarkets is deep and the racing where Betdaq is strong, without switching between two windows and two mental models.
What it costs

Smarkets questions, answered
Do I need my own Smarkets account?
Yes. BetTrading.net is the trading screen, not a betting operator. You open the account with Smarkets yourself, your money stays there, and we never hold it or take a cut of your winnings.
Is there a free way to use it with Smarkets?
Yes. The Basic plan costs nothing and stays free, and it connects one exchange — the whole application, with Smarkets behind it. Pro adds Betdaq alongside it and routes each bet to the better price of the two.
Does it use the Smarkets API?
Yes. The application connects through Smarkets’ own API using credentials you authorise, which is what lets it show live prices and place bets from the ladder. You stay in control of that access and can withdraw it from your Smarkets account at any time.
What do I need before I can trade?
A funded Smarkets account with API access enabled, and Windows 10 or 11. The first sign in walks you through connecting it.
Before you start
Trading on an exchange is a skill, and like any skill it is learned by doing it badly first. Start with stakes you have genuinely decided you can lose, treat the first few sessions as practice rather than income, and read our beginner's guide to bet trading if any of the vocabulary on this page was new.
Trading involves risk and BetTrading.net never promises profits. 18+ only.
